Source License

Last updated November 2, 2026

The short version: build whatever you like with the code, for yourself and for your clients, for as long as you like. Just don't resell the code itself or a lookalike of the product.

Summary

You may

  • Use the code in your own products and services
  • Modify, rebrand and extend it
  • Deploy it for clients and charge for your work
  • Use it on unlimited projects within your business

You may not

  • Resell, share or publish the source code
  • Sell a product substantially similar to the original
  • Share your license key or download links

The summary is for convenience. The terms below are the license.

1. Definitions

  • “Product” means the software you bought from ThinkTools, including its apps, builds, documentation and, for source tiers, its “Source Code”.
  • “You” means the person who bought the Product or, if they bought it for a business, that business. “Your business” includes your employees and the contractors working on your behalf.
  • “Source tier” means any purchase that includes source code (for example “Full source code”, “Apps + source code” or “Plugin + source”). “Apps-only tier” means a purchase that does not.

2. What a source tier lets you do

ThinkTools grants you a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive license to use, copy, modify and deploy the Source Code, and software you build from it:

  • in your own products and services, commercial or not;
  • in work you do for your clients, including charging them for that work;
  • on an unlimited number of projects within your business.

Your employees and contractors may work with the Source Code on your behalf. When you build something for a client, the client may receive and use the finished product. If your contract requires you to hand over the source code of that project, the client may use it only for that project and under the same restrictions as you.

3. What a source tier does not let you do

  • Sell, sublicense, share, publish or otherwise distribute the Source Code, original or modified, as source code. This includes public repositories, marketplaces, templates and starter kits.
  • Sell or give away a product that is substantially similar to the Product and built from it, such as the same software under a different name.
  • Remove the copyright notices from the source files. You don't have to show our name in your product.
  • Share your license key or download links with anyone outside your business.

4. Apps-only tiers

An apps-only purchase gives you a perpetual license to install and use the apps for personal or business purposes on any number of devices that you own or control. It does not include the Source Code. You may not redistribute the installers, and you may not reverse engineer the apps except where the law allows it.

5. Third-party components

Products may include open-source components that come with their own licenses. Those licenses apply to those components, and nothing here restricts rights they give you.

6. Ownership

ThinkTools keeps the copyright in the Product. You own the changes and additions you make, subject to this license for the parts that come from the Product.

7. Transfer

The license belongs to you and can't be transferred on its own. It can be transferred as part of the sale of your business or of the product you built with it.

8. Ending the license

The license ends if you break its restrictions and don't fix the breach within 14 days of us telling you, or if your purchase is refunded. When it ends, stop using the Product and delete your copies. Products you already delivered to clients in good faith are not affected.

9. Warranty and liability

The warranty and liability terms in our Terms of Sale apply to the Product.

10. Free products

Free products are distributed through their public repositories under the open-source license included there. This license does not apply to them.
